Will filing an automobile claim cause my premium to increase?
Normally yes, automobile rates charged are based on no accidents or violations. Insurance company filings require them to surcharge a policy should an accident or violation occur. There are exceptions to this such as first accident forgiveness. However even if the company does not surcharge there are other considerations such as removal of the loss free discount or rating tier changes.
